If you’re an online shopper, using a cash-back program when purchasing from your favorite stores is the best way to ensure you’re getting the best deals. This week, I heard about a new online cash-back site called Coupon Cactus. I checked it out, and am happy to report back on what I’ve seen so far.
The overview:
Coupon Cactus features not only a cash-back program (you earn a percentage back of your purchases at certain online retailers) but also tons of potentially useful coupons that you can combine in your shopping experience.
Here’s a run-down of what you’ll find at Coupon Cactus:
- Money-back in the form of a percentage of your purchase price when shopping online (similar to other sites like ShopatHome, Ebates, etc.)
- Tons of coupons and coupon codes for thousands of stores
- Free, easy sign up
- The chance to earn cash by signing up friends (note how their program differs from many others in my further explanation below)
My take:
I would say that a couple main things really set Coupon Cactus apart, particularly in the way their referral program is run.
- Telling Friends about Coupon Codes: Anytime you send an email and your friend clicks on it and redeems it, you receive a commission equal to the Cash Back Rate for that store.
- Referring New Members: When you refer new members to Coupon Cactus and they sign up you will receive a 25% commission (on top of what they earn, at no cost to them) of all cash back – for life;) There is no limit on the number of referrals.
- Suggest a Store Feature: You can suggest a store that Coupon Cactus should partner with quite easily.
Based on all this, I think there are couple conclusions I can draw about how users out there will evaluate Coupon Cactus.
The big question for shoppers will be:
- How do individual cash-back amounts compare to other programs out there?
- Is the site easy to use, understand, and come back to?
The big question for people or bloggers interested in referring friends and family will be:
Does 25% of a lifetime referral amount to more or less than the onetime $5 referrals offered by other online shopping cash-back programs?
And finally, the big question that I still have:
Why is it called Coupon Cactus? (Any ideas…?)
