I was excited that Savvy Blogging offered the chance here to read about the 2010 blogging goals of over 100 fellow bloggers this week. I made it a goal to read through everyone else’s before creating my own, as I wanted to be sure that I was really learning and stretching myself to find the best and most relevant goals for Saving Money Plan in 2010.
Here are the top five things I learned from reading through more than 100 lists of other bloggers’ goals:
- Blogging should always be second place to family.
- Personal goals are just as important as blogging goals.
- Blogging is a business, and business goals are needed to achieve.
- Blogging is about relationships, and you need to put in time (and make goals) to create and nurture relationships.
- Setting goals – and regularly checking up to see if you are achieving them – is one of the most important things you can this year.
After spending hours reading through those lists, I’m ready to make my own:
- Bring photography into my blog. I am lucky to have a wonderful photographer in my life, and need to learn some of those skills and make them more alive here.
- Use video! I have started to use video thanks to the wonderful flip camera gifted me by the crew at Savings.com, and I want to do more of this in the future. I love watching it on other blogs, and readers like it here.
- Help at least one other newbie blogger *per season* in a tangible way. If that’s you – drop me a line!
- Start using stumble upon. (I hear so many talk wonderful things of it, and I need to slowly learn to best use it without spending too much time doing so.)
- Clean up my widgets! I’m a constant widget-adder and I need to curb my addiction to keep things clean!
- Attend two blogging conferences this year.
- Grow in relationship with other bloggers.
- Read 100 books this year.
- Read through the Bible this year.
- Continue to use my beloved Twitter to learn, grow, and share.
And the #11 and most important goal of the year: Find balance in blogging!
Do you have blogging goals this year? Or personal goals you want to share? Leave a comment about something you’re trying to work on!

I love the way you took the time to read through so many blogs, summarize your highlights, and then make goals of your own. Insightful. Ambitious (especially #8 & #9). Best of luck!
